AAMER have sculptured many projects over the years, from Good Class Bungalows to inter-terrace properties, private cluster-housing developments, conservation shophouses, high-rise developments in Malaysia, bars & restaurants, and even doctors’ clinics. We have built a good reputation as architects who are unfazed by presiding fads of architectural styles and like to divert from the traditional rules of architecture, testing the boundaries, always in search of inspirations.
Philosophy
Principal Architect Aamer Taher, his designs are well known for their ‘flair and curves’, playfulness, and departure from conformist shapes. One can say that his architecture is an extension of his character.
Every project is viewed as a work of Art, conceived through a deep appreciation of site, context, and (client’s) brief.
One of Aamer’s clients described his works as ‘haute architecture’, in the sense that they are like ‘haute couture’ or ‘haute cuisine’, to mean custom- and tailor-made for each discerning individual and their lifestyle.
Thus, akin to Art, each design is a one-of-a-kind, uniquely different from the other.
Background
Aamer Taher founded Aamer Architects in 1994, two years after returning to Singapore from London, where he trained in the Architectural Association School of Architecture and practiced with several firms including the prestigious Michael Hopkins and Associates.
He is a former council member of the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and was an adjunct lecturer in the School of Architecture at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
In his spare time, Aamer is an avid artist who likes to paint, sometimes he’s even commissioned for a wall painting for a client’s new home.
